Welcome to the official website of the NEPRA. This website was developed in an effort to better serve the physician recruiters and providers looking to relocate to Northeastern United States. Our purpose is to provide the best possible resources available in an effort to ease the recruitment process for all involved. Melissa Hale

Melissa is the Lead Senior Recruiter at Baystate Health / University of Massachusetts Medical School-Baystate in western Massachusetts. She is responsible for developing strategic recruitment plans for physicians and advanced practitioners for several service lines as well as leading project initiatives and providing training within the Provider Recruitment team. She has been a NEPRA and ASPR member since 2007 and holds CMSR and FASPR certifications. She has volunteered as the Chair of the Website Committee and has been a Member-at-Large for NEPRA, in addition to committee involvement with ASPR.

Kelley Johnson

Kelley joined Southern Maine Health Care in October 2009 but worked prior at Goodall Hospital (now part of Southern Maine Health Care) starting in 2001. Kelley has been the Physician Recruitment and Retention Manager since April of 2016 after being in practice management for the organization for several years. Kelley is responsible for recruiting physicians, APP’s and CRNA’s for SMHC.

Kelley’s office is located in Biddeford, Maine. SMHC is the second largest member of the MaineHealth system. SMHC offers an array of specialty services and primary care locations throughout the southern Maine area. Kelley has been a member of NEPRA and ASPR since 2016 and holds FASPR certification.

Gina Mallozzi
Gina Mallozzi joined MaineHealth in April of 2018 and is the Physician Recruiter focusing on Maine Medical Center/Maine Medical Partners and has five years of in house physician recruitment experience. She is responsible for attracting physicians to all MMC inpatient departments, as well as MMP outpatient surgical, specialty and primary care opportunities.

Gina is based at Maine Medical Center (MMC), MaineHealth’s largest member and the state’s leading tertiary care academic hospital and Level One Trauma Center. MMC has a full complement of Residency and Fellowship programs, the Maine Medical Center-Tufts University School of Medicine Medical School Program, and The Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital.

Prior to joining MaineHealth, Gina worked for Central Maine Medical Center (CMMC) for twenty years and was the Medical Staff Recruiter for four years. Prior to her position in physician recruitment, Gina was the practice manager for CMMC’s Neurology and Sports Medicine practices and Family Medicine Residency Program. Gina has been a member of NEPRA since 2014 and was a member of the Education Planning Committee for the 2018 Newport conference.

Bonnie Hamel, FASPR, CMSR
Bonnie is the North Country Healthcare Provider Recruitment Coordinator in Northern New Hampshire. North Country Healthcare (NCH) includes Androscoggin Valley Hospital (AVH) in Berlin, Littleton Regional Healthcare (LRH) in Littleton, Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital (UCVH) in Colebrook, Weeks Medical Center (WMC) in Lancaster, and North Country Home Health and Hospice Agency (NCHHHA) in Littleton. This system provides services to northern Grafton County and all of Coos County in New Hampshire and is the largest employer in the area with over 1,400 staff. Bonnie’s office is located in Berlin, NH. Bonnie is working with each facility in the System to find, attract and place best fit candidates, decrease new hire failure rates, streamline the recruiting and onboarding processes, improve provider satisfaction and retention rates and build the candidate pipeline for the future.

Bonnie considers herself new to the medical recruitment field and found the support from NEPRA, as well as AAPPR and AAMM, very welcoming and encouraging when she started this career path in 2016. Since then she has earned a Certified Medical Staff Recruiter (CMSR) certification through the American Academy of Medical Management and a has earned her FASPR through the Association for Advancing Physician and Provider Recruitment. She is also a member of the OAR (Onboarding and Retention) Chapter Group Member through AAPPR.

Carolina Mallea
Carolina Mallea began her career in Physician Recruitment in 2014 at Signature Healthcare. As the Talent Acquisition Manager in Provider Services for Signature Healthcare, she is responsible for oversight of full cycle provider recruitment operations for a 217 bed community hospital and 18 ambulatory sites. This includes sourcing, interview planning, recruitment strategy, contract negotiation as well as HR on-boarding training plans for Physicians, NPs and PAs. She brings expertise in developing key relationships and collaborating with internal leaders to develop innovative recruiting models and great teams.

Carolina began her career in Recruitment and Human Resources in 1999; she is a seasoned recruitment professional with twenty years in recruiting and Human Resources. Prior to her role at Signature Healthcare her expertise in recruiting included niche recruiting fields such as MEMS/Nano/ Solar cell engineers. A born networker with 4,200 Linkedin connections, she fell in love with connecting people to the right role and found her niche in Recruiting. Carolina lives less than an hour from Boston and less than 10 minutes from the ocean in a Southeastern Massachusetts beach town, and loves being able to share all of the things she loves about living in this area with candidates. When she is not working, she is making the most of her beach sticker, and driving her daughters to soccer, lacrosse, and basketball and surf camp.

Most recently, Carolina has served as NEPRA Co-Chair for the 2018 annual NEPRA Educational Symposium in Newport, Rhode Island, and has actively volunteered on the website committee and is currently a Member at large. Carolina has been a member of NEPRA since 2016 and finds it a privilege to get to advocate for her fellow Physician and APP Recruiters.
